My Cup Runneth Over

My shoes fit neatly into the shoe tree.

My pants and shirts have their own clothes hanger.

I don't even use up all of the closet space in my bedroom.

But, it's here that things are busting at the seams:

I've decided to take the "Week Without Shopping" challenge and try to make my way through some of this:

(freezer #1)

Photobucket

this:

(freezer #2)
Photobucket

this:

(pantry)

Photobucket

and this (yes, I have a problem):

(basement "overflow"; I believe this is for Armageddon)
Photobucket

The only exception will be that on Tuesday I will still pick up my regularly scheduled CSA vegetables and grass-fed meats. But, I will go until Friday without setting foot in a supermarket, and I am not allowed to order take-out every night.

I'm excited to make some space in my pantry and refrigerator, and I know that Friday's "refill" shopping will make me kind of delirious. But, man, I'm really scared to find out what is at the back of those freezers.

I actually just came by to see if your BlogHer ads were "above the fold" because I'm comparing them with mine...I got some complaints about how HUGE my new banner/header were...and lo and behold I am treated with a brand new post!

I'm curious to see how this challenge goes for you because I think I seriously need to see if I can do that. My counters are cluttered with stuff because my cupboards are shoved full of stuff and my fridge and freezer upstairs are overflowing as is the freezer downstairs in the garage. BTW, anyone know how long stuff lasts in a deep freeze? *lol*

I'm not sure we could last an entire week, but I'd sure love to give it a try.

Good luck!

We are doing the same thing this week!

Damn woman! LOL Send some of that my way!

I would love to do that, but the joy of a tiny, tiny, house is we can only hold enough food to get through a week at each time. Anymore and I'm stuffing food inside the cups and bowls. LOL But I'm rooting for you from the sidelines! You can do it!

I always end up having to do something similar this time of year. You've seen my basement! I could go a very long time without shopping.

To quote my 2-year-old: "Whoa baby!"

Man, your pantry and cold-food-storage places make me feel like mine are evoking the memory of Old Mother Hubbard. I'm going to blame it on my semi-nomadic lifestyle, though I really have no excuse, given that we've lived here for a year now and have two years in front of us.

If I'm being honest, though, if I had a second freezer, it would totally be busting at the seams. Maybe it's better that I don't...

Wow. I thought I was a hoarder. I reckon you could go a month on that!

I went through my non perishables and will not tell u how far back they were dated to expire. I filled a bag. I have given up. I now buy for what I am cooking that night or the next or forget it. I threw out way way too much

In case of Armageddon, you will be um...regular. :)

I empty my pantries often, mostly because once every two or three months we donate it all to a certain charity here. But my kitchen doors look exactly like yours.

I like condiment people.

Is "don't step foot in a supermarket week" an actual thing or a moment of sheer inspiration on your part. I'm totally going to do this.

Now, is 13 month old frozen non-grass-fed beef still good?

I have the same problem! I should totally do that!

Good luck, I don't see you starving, there looks to be plenty in your pantry, maybe I should try it too, my pantry has a similar bugling look. But I do have a guest for the week so we might munch our way through some of it, but I am sure to do some extra buying .....just in case.

Wow, that's some serious food stockpiling!
I don't typically have more in my fridge than we can eat in a week. The freezer is full of go-to foods (usually unhealthy ones), like chicken strips and tater tots (yum). I do tend to stockpile meat in there-I will buy enough meat for two wks and then just slowly pull it out of the freezer package at a time.

I am so happy I am not the only one with this problem...
