Vacation, All I Ever Wanted. . .

So, we're on vacation! And, we're determined to have a blast despite the world's crappiest vacation weather. It's almost like we haven't even left Massachusetts, where it has been wet for so many days, I swear my home is growing a fine coat of moss.

But, we've just spent 5 lovely days in Pennsylvania where we gawked at the Amish, rode an authentic steam train (which is probably destroying the ozone layer as I type), screamed in terror at Dutch Wonderland (what can I say? those swings were S-C-A-R-Y), and soaked up much love and affection from Fairly Odd Father's adorable aunt and cousin. We also saw UP, the movie, and, let me tell you, that movie is hard to watch from behind two hands pressed over the eyes. Did they really have to make the "high in the sky" scenes so authentic? I was either crying over the plot or cowering in my movie seat with sweaty palms.

One thing though? When did my kids get so loud and restless? I haven't wished for a tranquilizer gun so much in my entire life.

Today, we took a scenic drive through Philadelphia via Rt 76 and arrived in Ocean City, New Jersey to visit FOF's aunt and uncle. The rain, bless its little soul, decided to follow us here, but that didn't stop us from running on the beach and getting what is known as "ocean hair".

We leave tomorrow, just in time for the sun to come out. Isn't that a funny coincidence? Ha! Ha!

I've also heard that it will be raining when we get back home. I'm putting a hit out on Mother Nature.

glad you had a good time anyway. we decided to not go north to our house in vermont this weekend because of the rain. why drive 3 hours to stay inside. I can do that here and not waste the gas.

I was just in the same exact area of PA beginning of June. Got the same exact weather. Stayed at the Hershey Farm Inn & Restaurant - right down the road from Dutch Wonderland (on 896 towards Strausburg). Ended up seeing Up and Earth while on vaca because of the rain.

Hope the weather improves slightly for you.

yeah, sorry to tell you this but it's supposed to be raining in MA all weekend. I'm thinking of building an ark soon...

Mother Nature is a bitch. I also live in MA and I simply CANNOT take one more day of rain/cloud/cool. WFT? I thought it was supposed to be warm out here (I'm from Western Canada) at this time of year?!

Vacation is a state of mind. Just keep chanting that.

We have the worst luck when it comes to vacations and rain. We are considering renting ourselves out to drought stricken countries. But do I really want to vacation in Ethiopia...hmmm?

I used to go to Dutch Wonderland as a kid and loved it so much! I do hate the swings though, they make me dizzy...

I thought you were going to be safe, since it rained all week LAST week. But alas, it's planning to rain ALL WEEKEND. Again! Because I guess we need the rain and all blah blah. Sorry that you couldn't escape it.

Just think of how nice it will be to come home. Your grass will be seventeen inches deep.

Last night, we spent four innings at Fenway Park under ponchos before heading home. At least we didn't decide to wait out the two-hour rain delay, since they called the game anyway.

I have the kids singing, "rain, rain, go away..."

You saw Amish people? Like real ones? That is so freaking cool.

Sorry about the rain. I am thinking it will never stop here. But I'm glad you guys had fun, despite it.

We have had enough of the rain too. I read in the paper yesterday that despite the dreary spring, we are below average precipitation levels because most of the days have just been a little drizzly. Ugh. We hope to take the kids to PA within the next couple of years so I would love to hear more about your trip.
