Ass Over Tea Kettle

Yesterday, Belly and I were snuggled in the big living room chair reading a book together.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jilly coming down the stairs. My heart was instantly in my mouth because she wasn't just coming down the stairs. . .she was rolling, head over heels, over and over and over. . .all the way to the bottom where she landed on the hard wooden floor.

I jumped up and ran to her, expecting the worst. She was crying loudly and hugging her arm to her chest. I was crying too. I looked for blood first and then decided to see if she was really injured.

"Touch your head", "touch your shoulders", "touch your toes", "wiggle your knees", "wiggle your nose", "do the funky chicken". Pretty soon, we were laughing and smiling, and it was obvious she was fine.

"I'm so glad you are ok, Jilly. You really scared me."

"Mommy? You know what? Coming down like that was really fun".

Oh sure. A fall like that takes YEARS off of a mom's life, but to her it was FUN.

I hope she's not sure too sore today and that your heart rate has recovered.

Eek! I'm glad she was okay.
When my Boy was two, he fell downstairs and KNOCKED HIMSELF OUT. My GOD, that was scary.

I know how you feel. Just this weekend, Moe tumbled down the basement stairs to the concrete below. She two was fine, but it took my breath away. She's the only one whose fallen down stairs more than once.

I think you're the only one in the family that hasn't fallen down the stairs? Who would have thought that?

WOW. That scares the life out of me too! I am always super scared about the top of our stairs, I thinking the top landing is too narrow! Thank God she's ok.

I fell down my stairs a couple years ago and my tailbone is still not recovered! M and E hav fallen down the stairs to garage... nothing like a concrete foundation!
EEK! Somehow they are ok, and I am still scarred from seeing it.

I'm sooooo glad she was okay! My O would have broken something, I'm sure! (she's broken three bones already with her crazy adventures!)

I am so glad she's ok ... and that she can still do the funky chicken *whew*

BUT ....

THIS is exactly why I want to live on the first floor of our barn instead of the railroad apartmenty second floor. We have a staircase that better resembles a ladder. I can just picture the fun over going ass over teakettle down them. I really don't want to laugh until it hurts.

Welcome to your future! Z took the plunge when he was 9 mo old. I'm still shaking, 4 years later.

BTW - Love that prom pic. Were they finally able to correct for those near-sighted cheekbones? :-)
