Sticks and Stones and Words

Two nights ago, Belly was angry at me. She had the pouting lips, the crossed arms and the stomping feet. She went into her bedroom and wrote me a note to tell me how she felt:

The note went like this:

I LOVE MOMMY

MOMMY DOES NOT LOVE ME

Good God, this child goes right for the jugular.

And do you know what my sin was? How I showed my non-love for her?

I told her it was time to get into bed. N...O...W...

Anyone who says being a mom isn't hard work doesn't know anything. There are times I think that nothing could possibly be harder.

That's nothing. Once, my then-5-year-old daughter, instead of saying, "I hate you!" said, "I never liked you."

Ouch.

It is very tough when they express themselves like that. I'm sure in the morning she'll tell you she loves you.

You mean mean mommy!
How could you be so harsh as to say NOW. ;-)

I wonder how this will compare to them being teens...

Yikes!
I'm pretty sure I think being a mom is the hardest job on earth all the time - if I never waiver from that opinion, I am pleasantly surprised when wonderful things happen.

It IS hard!
I was the "meanest mom ever" today because I made grilled cheese for lunch instead of a bagel.

OUCH. I mistakenly read Drama Queens diary (thought it was a school notebook she left behind) and eeee gads do I piss her off a lot! According to her I'm the meanest, toughest most unloving mom around.

Guess that means I'm doing my job?
