Red, Red Wine

I am positively giddy for tomorrow night.

We have been invited to a "wine tasting" party within walking distance of our home, which means: no need for a designated driver! Also, my mom has offered to stay over at our house, which means: no babysitter charging $10 an hour!

Sadly, I have become a wimp at drinking. One-half a glass of wine, and I feel tipsy. Two glasses of wine, and I had better be wearing flat shoes. Anything more than that, and I will be seriously hurting Saturday morning.

And Saturday afternoon.

And Saturday night.

I think wistfully of my college days when a hangover would last a couple of hours. Now, it could be days before I feel better.

But, before I partake in an evening of wassailing, I will leave you with the image from my youth. The year was 1994, and the cute little brunette by my side is my sister. We have just returned from a night out-and-about in the city of Boston, and are crashing for the night at the (God-knows-what-has-been-on-this-couch) apartment of a few guy friends.

I wonder how those tights would play in the suburbs?

I think you need to get rid of this picture before you have a teenage girl.

How cute are you two? OMG... I love that photo! Love the tights, the snuggling sisters, the couch, everything!

It was quite nice of your friend to take a picture of you ladies...

Those are quite some tights!

I am right there with you on the lightweight thing. I had to small glasses of Bailey's last night of all things, started to giggle, then couldn't keep my eyes open and fell asleep on the couch. Ahh, old age...

Shar, I've to delurk to pile-on. I still have nightmares about your "Teddy Ruxpin" sweater. The fact that we didn't beat the ever-living-snot out of you just shows how much we love you.

Ah, good times. I get chills thinking of Belly and Jilly out on the town together, trying to sneak their younger cousin into the club with the hot guys. Blurgh.

I still have those tights. In fact, I wore a pair of my striped 'clubbin' legs for Halloween. They were so old that the elastic gave out half-way down our street while trick-or-treating. I was a witch waddling home while holding up drooping legs. Something tells me that my ability to spring back from a night of drinking is equal to what's left in those tights.

And Shar, that sweater takes the cake. The fact that you wore it out TO A BAR IN BOSTON shows that you have balls the size of Texas.

Those are some TIGHTS, baby.

Love 'em.

Remember when a hangover could be prevented by a pre-emptive 2 AM trip to Denny's? Ah, youth.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I looked HOT!!! The fact that it's too hot in Florida to break it out still bums me out to this day. I'll be up North in March and it may just have to make an appearance one more time....but only if you guys wear those tights again so we ALL look cool.

You guys were so cute - look at those tights! And I remember nights like that - falling asleep drunkenly at a friend's house and waking up half frozen and hungover. Happy memories.
