My kids eat meat, but have been recently quite preoccupied with WHAT exactly is the meat their eating. Whatever I serve, they want to know not just which animal it came from, but also which PART of the animal.

Frankly, I'd rather not think about that (isn't that why we call it "beef" and "pork" and "poultry" instead of the animal names?). So far, it hasn't caused them to stop eating meat, so we'll see how it goes.Vered https://www.blogger.com/profile/09453358346751699999noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35507576.post-12061106302461690252008-05-27T01:02:00.000-05:002008-05-27T01:02:00.000-05:00the other white meat, right?By the way, bacon is a...the other white meat, right?

By the way, bacon is awesome. I was a veg for 13 years and then switched back to my carnivore ways because of it.Creative-Type Dadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13594687030412942701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35507576.post-39328104289192027862008-05-26T00:44:00.000-05:002008-05-26T00:44:00.000-05:00I love this! So I asked her---"does this mean you're going to give up bacon?" Oh, she says, do I have to give up bacon? And then she uses the example of her uncle who's a "vegetarian" but eats fish---can't bacon be her exception? Too funny!Kristi Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15749922455225303462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35507576.post-50469727595138868872008-05-25T18:27:00.000-05:002008-05-25T18:27:00.000-05:00HA HA! I mean, it's PINK so that it's not really white meat, right?

I think she has a certain pragmatic charm.

I've never understood why we romanticize farm animals (even the most urban child knows the sounds made by barnyard animals) and then expect our kids to eat them up?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
